Allison of La Fete Floral & Design and I fell in love with Finca the first time we stepped in the door. The contrast of feminine and dark is simply jaw dropping. With impeccable design from Cody Derrick, the passion of owner Scott Evans, coupled with modern elements, that incredible floral wallpaper and checkerboard tiles… those elements provide a perfectly cool and romantic vibe. The ideal spot for stolen glances and whispered words… The quintessential venue for a stylish wedding.

Organizing this shoot, we called upon a prime selection of our favorite vendors. The exquisite calligraphy and hand painted paper suite from Wildfield Paper Co. highlighted the delicate balance of soft and masculine. Allison, (La Fete Floral & Design), selected from flowers that mirrored that ridiculous wallpaper… garden roses, Ranunculus, Magnolia and Fritillaria just to name a few. The floral showcased colors of dusty pink and jewel tones found in the gorgeous lounge chairs as well. The Anthroplogie place settings gave the space a feminine softness to contrast the darker surroundings. The milky votives and modern gold candelabras added the romantic glow and light that danced off the delicate blush stemware. A decadent dark chocolate cake from Pippa Cakery with rose frosting and dripping raspberry coulis, was more than fitting for the richness of the scene. The bride wore a timeless dress from BHLDN, sleek and smooth with a touch of old Hollywood glam, dripping with a few precious gems hand-picked from OC Tanner. The groom was outfitted with a classic black modern Beckett & Robb custom suit and accented with a Goorin Brothers felt hat. Through these images captured on a rainy afternoon in March, you can almost hear Edith Piaf singing her moody sounds of La Vie en Rose, (Life in Pink)…

    • Choose the best warm microclimate in your garden, and you will have greater ease of maintaining semi-hardy plants over winter. South facing borders against walls are generally a little warmer than other parts for example. If you have a tropical Hibiscus it is really better to keep them as pot grown plants, and take them indoors to shelter for the winter. Hardy Hibiscus can be left out all year, and have roots as well as stems that are hardy from freezing weather.
